Description: You have the ability to save a pre-existing device configuration as a custom personality and easily apply the saved personality to the other Canaries.
This can be useful for sharing base network settings (Note: this does not include the IP Address as each device will need a separate IP), specific service configuration or even file structures for your Windows file shares.
Note: The custom personality will not include the following settings (which you'll need to configure yourself):
- Device Name
- Location
- IP Address
- Mac Suffix
- The below Windows file share options (if enabled):
- Mode
- Advanced config (including all domain-related values)
Follow the steps below to create a custom personality for your Canary:
Step 1:
Log in to your Console.
Step 2:
Select the Canary you want to save the personality.
Note: we have selected the CT-MXT-Server Canary.
Step 3:
Click the gear icon (Configure Canary) icon to configure this Canary.
Step 4:
- Tick Save as custom device personality.
- Give the personality a name (Note: we chose Base Windows File Share)
- Click Deploy new configuration.
Step 5:
Your new configuration will be pushed down to your Canary and the custom personality will be saved on your Console.
Step 6:
Select the Canary you want to apply the saved custom personality to.
Note: we have selected the JHB-Finance-NAS Canary.
Step 7:
Click the gear icon (Configure Canary) icon to configure this Canary.
Step 8:
Select the custom personality from the Device Personality drop-down list.
Note: custom personalities are at the bottom of the list.
Step 9:
Once you've selected the custom personality, you will then need to click on Deploy new configuration.
