Assigning static/custom DNS server's IP address to your Canary while still allowing the Canary to use DHCP to grab its IP address (Netmask and Gateway) from the network. This can all be done by using the remote manager through your Canary Console.
Your Canary must be online and connected to your Console.
Follow the steps below to assign a static IP to your Canary:
Step 1: Log in to your Console
Step 2: Select a Canary
Select the Canary you want to configure a static DNS IP on.
We have selected the CT-Router-01 Canary.
Step 3: Open Configuration Settings
Click on Configure Canary to configure this Canary.
Step 4: Enter Custom DNS Server Details
Uncheck Custom DNS servers option and enter the static values for your DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2.
Step 5: Deploy New Configuration
Once you've updated the DNS Servers your Canary will use to talk back to your Console, you will then need to click on Deploy new configuration.
Step 6: Wait for Canary to Reboot and Reconnect
Your new DNS Server configuration changes will be pushed down to your Canary. Once it gets to 100%, your Canary will then reboot and connect back to your Console using the new configuration.
