Note: These steps apply to older 2.0 Virtual Canaries. We're in the process of rolling out OVA-packaging for Virtual Canaries to our customers and instructions for those newer birds can be found here.

Step 1: Login to your console and go to 'Setup'

Step 2: Navigate to 'Virtual Canary'

Step 3: Download your Virtual Canary Template

Click the Download link to begin your Virtual Canary Template download.

Over time we will introduce new Virtual Canary versions. All previous versions will be available here, but whenever needed, we recommend using the latest version to ensure your Canary has the latest software and features.

Step 4: Store your template

This template is used to create all new Virtual Canaries, so never boot it (if you have booted it, see the Oops, I booted my Virtual Canary template! KB article. Instead, store this template and whenever you need to add a new Virtual Canary all you need to do is copy the template and boot the new copy.

Step 5: Copy your template and boot

Make a copy of your template and unzip it (optionally rename it to something descriptive so you know which bird it is).

Start the new image and wait while it boots up.

Step 6: Commission your bird

Once booted, the bird will automatically connect to your console. Go back to your console, navigate to 'Home' and a commission dialog will appear. Click 'Commission' and your registration process will be complete.

Step 7: Bird comes online

Once the registration is complete the bird will come online.

It's now ready for configuration using the remote configuration editor to enable profiles and services.
